Well that's how the guy in Sydney described Melbourne-melboring. I wouldn't dispute that having spent the last 4 days here. Yawn. There isn't much to do but I haven't felt like doing much either. Oh well. I think my cold is getting better though. Today I ventured downtown and shopped around for some books to read on the long train ride tomorrow. Yippee going to see Uluru. Should be fun.
Yesterday, I managed to book a tour for Thailand on October 18th, returning Oct 25 to Bangkok. It's a tour that goes on a 3 day trek up to the northern hilltribes. Should be very interesting, I can't wait. I'm also in the process of booking a ticket Bangkok to Shanghai to visit my friend Tanya in Wuhan. I think I've found a ticket through STA travel in Bangkok for only $500 CAD return. Good price. I also visited the Chinese consulate on Monday to arrange for a tourist visa to China. Seemed to go ok, the official just asked me how long I planned on staying there, to which I said one month. He said it would be ready on Thursday. Hopefully they'll have it done so I can collect my passport, which they're holding hostage until I fork over the $50 fee for the visa.
Well, not much else is happening today. Think I'll grab a coffee at one of the sidewalk cafes and read a book-though it is a bit cold outside with the wind blowing. At least it's not raining.
