Just hanging out in Perth...not much going on here. On Wednesday I'm going up to a town on the beach called Lancelin for a few days. Should be ok. The two girls I was hanging out with are gone now. The Japanese girl and I got along well, we discovered that our boyfriends have similar names-hers is Akihiro and mine of course is Akiharu, though we both call them "Aki". So we compared Akis which was interesting. Her Aki is 36 and is a very traditional Japanese boyfriend. He won't tell her he misses her, or hug her in public (or ever, really). They've been apart 8 months and when she met him at the airport in Sydney they just waved at each other "Hello, how are you?" Apparently that's very normal. She asked about my Aki and was glad to hear (and maybe a bit jealous) that my Aki is very Canadian. She told me that she lived with her Aki for awhile in Tokyo but he still maintained an apartment somewhere else so he wouldn't have to tell his parents (at age 36!) Yep, Japanese, she said. It was very interesting. I think I'd like to go to Japan one day, I find the culture very different than the Western one (boring, says the girl from Japan) ;p
