Spores germinate to produce a green, photosynthetic bisexual GT. Can control the sexuality to maximize frequency of outcrossing: Can be male only or start off female then become male.

sporangia attached to underside of an umbrella-like sporangiophore. Sporangia are clustered in circles to form a strobilis, often found at the end of the fertile stems.
A part of the spore wall is an elator and the spores are green.
