Attended the celebration dinner last night with Reiko. A themed dinner to commemorate the opening of the Suian Maru exhibition, local politicians and the great granddaughter of Jinzaburo Oikawa gave speeches and traditional performers from Miyagi prefecture danced a kagura. The food was delicious: Presented in a veeerrryyyy fancy bento box which from the outside looked like a bento box and inside moulded trays that appeared to be ceramic (stream of thoughts: whoa, they're really lux, even ceramic plate-thingies - pokepoke - wtf, whoa, miracles of modern technology and low lighting situations) Salmon roe, rice, umeboshi, gomae, tempura, unidentifiable stuff, more unidentifable stuff and pretty much entirely delicious (Shiitake and I have a really hate-on so it usually flies quickly over to Reiko)
